Call for Applications – SADC/GIZ TFCA Learning Partnership Micro Fund – SADC/GIZ invites applicants from SADC TFCAs to submit proposals for funds to cover activities that facilitate cross-border learning between and within TFCAs .

  • Are you representing a SADC TFCA and are keen on learning from other SADC TFCA experiences?
  • Are you a practitioner who aspires to bring together partners from different TFCAs to share experiences and best practices?
  • Are you from a community that is part of a TFCA and you would like to see how community engagement in conservation works in another TFCA?
  • Are you part of a team of TFCA representatives that has planned to conduct some exchange activities such as learning visits or joint trainings?

Then this Programme might be for you!

SADC/GIZ TUPNR offers to facilitate learning within and across TFCAs in the SADC-region. The goal is to promote partnerships between SADC TFCAs and to support exchange of good practices/ lessons in transboundary cooperation. The learning partnerships could include topics such as sustainable finance of TFCAs or parks, community involvement, tourism development, cross-border governance, cross-border law enforcement or awareness raising / sensitisation about the TFCA concept in communities. Activities must support TFCA objectives as outlined in the SADC TFCA Programme. Proposed exchange activities could include learning visits, workshops/trainings, internships, or joint excursions.

Criteria for accepting an application:

At least two representatives working in or on TFCAs of two different countries within the same TFCA or from at least two different TFCAs submit a joint proposal. The applicants must document they have jointly developed the proposal. The proposal shall have a clear description of the proposed activities, costs and target groups/ beneficiaries and the follow-up measures.

  • The learning objective has to be clear, practical and measurable.
  • The proposed activity must be cross-border.
  • The applicants ensure that the availability of expertise or experience sought in the exchange is available and resource persons or experts are present during the exchange.
  • Applicants agree to document the exchange in a way that outlines lessons learned, e.g. through a short film.
  • Applicants must submit plans of how the lessons will be applied and submit a follow-up report after six months reviewing the implementation of the plan.
  • Applicants must submit an endorsement letter by the managers/directors of their organisations/institutions for the proposed activity, and demonstrate that their organisations/institutions will co-sponsor the proposed activity or that there is co-funding going into the proposed activity from another source.
  • Application deadline is Friday, 03rd of March, 2017, 17h00. The proposed activities should take place within 2017.

Applications should not exceed 1500 words (excluding budget table and supporting documents). Supporting documents, such as endorsement of a manager, the agreements between partners etc. can simply be attached as email copies.

This fund can cover expenses such as accommodation, meals, travel and documentation. GIZ will not cover any administrative costs, management fees or other overheads. It is further understood that applicants need to arrange the required visa and permits, once an application has been approved.
